Fitcamper of the Month Archive

My name is Brenna Galbraith, I am  almost 37 years old and a mother of 3 beautiful children who are 16, 10, and 8. My husband Jeff and I have been married for 17 years.

When I am not working full-time outside the home, shuttling my kids to TaeKwon-Do or swimming, volunteering as a fundraising coordinator for my son's school, or training/fundraising for the Ride to Conquer Cancer - you will find me sweating up a storm while Chance, Carol or Teresa do everything humanly possible to kick our backsides into shape.

I would not have it any other way.

Throughout my early years and into my early teens I always considered myself an athlete. I even had the privilege of attending FINA master worlds in Italy in 2001 for synchronized swimming. Not too long after that I hung up my goggles and found my husband. Falling in love was a wonderful experience but it also helped me pack on the pounds. Between the bliss of marriage, living with a man that had a high metabolism, and welcoming our first daughter to the world, I went from my competitive weight of 5'8" 145 lbs to a whopping 203 lbs at my highest.

BELIEVE IN YOURSELF AND YOU WILL SUCCEED! These words did not mean that much to
me before May 5th 2012. On my babies 1st birthday I uploaded the pictures and thought, WOW
Julie how did you let yourself get this big!! I wanted to delete all the pictures but for some reason
I stopped myself. It was in that moment that I decided to make some major changes in my life.

Hi! My name is Heather Nail and I love working out! Yes - I am that keener who shows up with a smile and wants a little extra challenge in my fitcamp classes, but it wasn't always this way.

Hi my name is Linda and I hate working out!

I am a stay at home mum who has been blessed with two wonderful children ages 7 and 4 and wife to a very supportive and loving husband.  I used to be a Production Manager for an entertainment company, and now find I have the job title of “slave to my children.”

Hello, my name is Theresa and I’m a 32 yr old civil designer with my own contracting business.  I have 3 very energetic and wonderful boys, ages 38, 4 and 2.  I have struggled with my weight my entire life.  After having my kids and reaching 225 lbs at my heaviest (and weighing more than my husband!)  I knew I had to do something more to change my lifestyle.

I’m Leesa and I’m a 30 yr old SAHM of 2 kids, ages 4 and 2. I’ve struggled with my weight my entire life and was always the “big girl” as far back as I can remember. I hit 200 lbs in grade 4 and yo-yo’d my way through life from there. Throughout my life I’ve been on more diets then you can imagine, some great, some not so great and exercise and I have never got along. Sports was never my thing, I hated running and could never keep up. I’ve had gym memberships which I’d use for a short time and then give up. I’ve never found any exercise program that could actually hold my attention. I’m the queen of excuses in all aspects of my health and have used every imaginable one to be as inactive as possible.

Hello! My name is Julie Baratta and I have been attending Fitcamp since January 2012 and loving it.

Born and raised in London, Ontario, I moved to Calgary in 2004 to pursue a fine arts degree at the Alberta College of Art + Design. I have always had a relatively active lifestyle playing school sports, gymnastics, fishing with my family, travelling and enrolling various volunteer activities, but now the older I get the harder it is to make time for myself.

Hi! My name is Amber and here is a little about my investment into living a healthy lifestyle:

Hi! My name is Erin and here is a little about my investment in fitness:
I have played competitive soccer most of my life. In season fitness training for that was done mostly within practice sessions, with some extra runs/stairs thrown into the mix. Off season training consisted of workouts in the gym and runs…..I was never very good at this, but muddled my way through the long winters, just “getting by”. I always had my work cut out for me in the spring, when soccer season would start again.
In 2005, I moved overseas and playing/training soccer 4-5 times a week was not an option.
